Sojor certified with RCS

Sojor has recently received RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) certification, an international, voluntary standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of Recycled input and chain of custody. The goal of the RCS is to increase the use of Recycled materials.

"With the implementation of the Recycled Claim Standard in our manufacturing unit, we take another step on the path we have been walking in recent years, towards an increasingly sustainable and environmentally friendly production. Sustainability in footwear is a goal of Sojor, and also of the Portuguese Footwear", said Jorge Fernandes, CEO of Sojor.

The RCS have three main objectives: Align definitions of “recycled” across different applications; Verify recycled content in products; Give brands and consumers a means to make informed buying decisions.

The RCS verifies the presence and amount of recycled material in a final product. This happens through input and chain-of-custody verification from a third party. It allows for the transparent, consistent and comprehensive independent evaluation and verification of recycled material content claims on products. RCS can be used as a business-to-business tool to give companies the means to ensure that they are selling quality products and getting what they pay for. It is also used as a way to ensure accurate and honest communication with consumers.

The Recycled Claim Standard is intended for use with any product that contains at least 5% Recycled Material. Each stage of production is required to be certified, beginning at the recycling stage and ending at the last seller in the final business-to-business transaction. Material Collection and Material Concentration sites are subject to self-declaration, document collection, and on-site visits.
